How To Play Morgana Season 10

Morgana is unarguably a very strong and popular champion in League of Legends. Released in 2009, she’s most widely played as either a support or mid champion. Morgana is not the easiest champion in the game, requiring precision and skill to land her Q and E abilities.

If you want to learn how to play Morgana support, you have come to the right place.

How To Play Morgana Support

The build on Morgana varies widely, but here we are going to focus on the squishier, more utility-focused version.

Your success rate playing Morgana depends considerably on your ability to hit those Qs. Generally, you will want to max your Q first, followed by your E, and then W.

Your lane is significantly vulnerable while your Q is on cooldown, so be prepared to hold it in team fights. The number of players that instantly throw their Q’s and miss, and then a couple of seconds later have a clear shot is staggering. Remember, sometimes the threat of having an ability is a bigger threat than using it.

Starting Items:

Spellthief’s Edge

Spellthief’s Edge gives greater damage and mana regeneration, which helps massively in the laning phase. Since you can proc a lot of your tributes with Tormented Soil, it’s not difficult to obtain the extra gold you need to start upgrading your items.

Health Potion

Health Potion helps with lane sustainability after trades and pokes.

Warding Totem

When you begin your game you are not going to have Eye Of Frost, and warding is one of many duties as a support player. You should keep a Warding Totem until you unlock Eye Of Frost, and can upgrade to Oracle Lens.

Summoner Spells:

Flash is extremely versatile and should be mandatory. As well as being used as an escape, flash can also be used with Morgana’s infamous engage, flash > Q > Zhonya’s Hourglass.

Ignite is the aggressive summoners spell of choice. It can be extremely effective against champions like Soraka, and against ADC’s early-game to reduce the healing they receive via their support or life-steal. It can also be used in the early-game to provide extra damage in securing those initial kills.

Exhaust is a less-common Summoner Spell of choice, but provides highly useful against assassins and divers to prevent them from reaching your allies.

Morgana Core Items:

Remnant Of The Watchers

Remnant of The Watchers is the best recommended Tier 3 support item for Morgana. In terms of just pure stats, it synergies better than other Tier 3 items as it gives you CDR, AP and Mana Generation.

Zhonya’s Hourglass

Zhonya’s Hourglass is an invaluable core item due to its active and synergy with Soul Shackles; making a great tool for team fights. We recommend building Zhonya’s as your second or third item depending on how the match is playing out, and if you are going for more damage or utility.

Utility Items:

Redemption is an extremely key item that benefits Morgana with the stat bonus and the active. This item can indeed change the tides of a teamfight with the heal. This is an extremely useful item for when playing Morgana with invaluable utility benefits.

Locket Of Iron Solari is an item that improves overall tankiness. If you have a good amount of health and/or you’re facing an AP reliant team, this is a great item to pickup.

Zeke’s Convergence’s stats and cool passive makes it a great support item when playing Morgana. It gives you a fair amount of Armour, CDR, Mana and Magic Resistance.

Shurelya’s Reverie is another item that benefits Morgana massively. The active provides a huge increase in movement speed which can be used in various scenarios, such as landing a successful Q on an enemy champion.

Morgana Damage Items:

Luden’s Echo is one of the most popular damage items for Morgana due to the extremely high 90 AP bonus. It also gives a nice amount of CDR and mana which come in very handy and is probably one of the best items on Morgana besides Zhonya’s Hourglass.

Spellbinder is a useful item if you’re ahead and doing well, or you want to have an insane amount of AP as well as beneficial active effect. On a 60 second cooldown it provides up to an additional 80 AP and 50% bonus decaying movement speed which helps hugely when trying to make picks.

Liandry’s Torment is another popular item, providing great additional AP and health.

Rabadon’s Deathcap is great to purchase when you’re ahead and looking to crush the enemy team. This item is going to provide you with a crucial AP boost.
